| The following is an interview with Graphic and Body paint Artist Ms. Tranette Forte (TF) as she spoke to Island Mas (IM) about her love and talent: IM: Tranette, what is it that you do? TF: I am an artist, who specializes in pencil portraits and body art; which incorporates (face & body painting, glitter and airbrush designs). IM: How long have you been doing this? TF: I have been doing my pencil portraits for about 7yrs now. However, I have been involved in body art for the past 4yrs. IM: What training do you have in these areas? TF: I have had some professional training through the Community Art Career Program. While there, I was exposed to drawing illustration, computer graphics and airbrushing. However, my love for art is innate, and that essentially has been the foundation for my creative expressions. In addition to my natural ability, the training and guidance that I was given through my primary and secondary life has been invaluable. Since having completed the program, i was introduced to body painting by Sean Miller, who is a well known body artist. IM: What shows and or events have you done? TF: I worked Crop Over with Sean, painting the band PowerX4 for 2yrs (2006 & 2007). In addition, I also worked with Sean at the PowerX4/ Boomtribe event entitled Dreamland. In 2008 I branched out and added face painting to children at Bridgetown market. After its success I expanded in to doing children's parties and private work. This continued into 2009, where I focused on the Crop Over Festival, bringing new and creative designs to the various sections of the St. Stephens Primary School Kiddies kadooment band. I took part in an art exhibition, which was a joint initiative between the Barbados Youth Business Trust (BYBT) & Community Development. There I show cased my portraits and body art services. I took part in the Youth Entrepreneurship Scheme (YES) expo, held in Jubilee Gardens where I did face painting and airbrush tattoos. IM: What shows and or events have you done or will you been doing in 2010? TF • Holetown Festival • Agrofest • Sandy lane Gold Cup • Inter School Sports • Reggae On De Hill • Soca On De Hill • All major Crop Over events • just to name a few..... IM: What else can we look forward to in 2010 from Tranette ? TF : For Crop Over this year I am putting the finishing touches to a new and exciting concept in designs. IM: Thats sounds exciting can you tell us more ? TF: Soon, however if any crop over bands want to be a part of it they can give me a call IM: Finally, Tranette how can we contact you for an event? TF: You may contact me at Bodyart Central 235-5502 or email: bodyartcentral@live.com |
